May 24, 2016

Davide is a young Italian photographer whose daring and audacious style produces images that are bold, sexy and pleasantly aesthetic at the same time. His work represents that young and frenetic spirit which is experienced during youth, triggering memories or fantasies that entice to most of us.

Following we want to present an interview we had with Davide:

am - First of all thank you very much for your contribution to our project. Can you please tell us where are you from and what do you do at the moment?

DM- I am from Naples, and am currently based in Sestri Levante, Genova. At the moment I am focused on taking photographs.

am - How did you start in photography?

DM - I began taking photographs in 2013 and in 2014 I dedicated myself to analog photography. I think that nowadays photography is the most honest form of art.

am - What inspires your work?

DM - I am strongly inspired by the old fashion magazines and some contemporary photographers.

am - Who are your favourite photographers / artists?

DM - Boris Mikhailov.

am - How would you describe your photographs in 3 words?

DM - Entertaining. Nostalgic. Youthful.

am - When you are not taking pictures, what do you do?

DM - When I am not taking pictures I am usually out for a walk with my dog Kinsella or l am having fun creating some music.

am - If you could travel and stay in a place for one year, where would you choose to go?

DM - For sure I would choose a small town, close to the sea with a lot of greenery around because big cities hinder my imagination.

am - Favourite songs / bands at the moment?

DM - Big Blood - Haystack (A.P.) Ursula Bogner.

am - What’s your favourite movie?

DM - Kynodontas Dogtooth.

am - What are you reading at the moment?

DM - I am rereading "The Fountainhead" by Ayn Rand.

am - Gin, vodka or tequila?

DM - Rum.

am - Your main unanswered question in life?

DM - Why does man continue to destroy our Planet?

am - Do you have any project in mind that could be a personal or professional challenge?

DM - At the moment I am concentrated on a little project called Æ∫ (Aesthetic Solar). It is an entertaining project which involves taking photographs mainly of friends and people who have an interesting lifestyle, but the most beautiful shots are those taken in the street without any plan because you never know what there will be out there to photograph.

am - Thank you very much for your time and your contribution to analog magazine.
