Laura is a self-taught photographer from Czech Republic whose artistic work is based in directing beautiful and simple images that she previously conceives in her mind. Inspired by normal events, her fashion stories are certainly romantic and inspiring, showing that beauty is not only related to glamour but also found in daily happenings.

Following we present an interview we had with Laura:

am - First of all thank you for your contribution to our project. Can you please introduce yourself for us?

LK - Hello, thank you for having me! I am quite an introverted person, so it is a tough question for me to start with, so let’s do it! :)  Basically I am a photographer from Eastern Europe, Prague. I was born in the most eastern city in Czechoslovakia, close to Ukrainian borders and during communism but I was raised in the countryside in Czech Republic. I run portraiture photography and my lets say ‘fashion stories’. I am self-taught photographer and started to work with both analogue and digital nine years ago. Now I work as a professional freelancer, leading a production team of artists and contribute as visual&idea maker for VICE. I want do my living by using my talent seeing something different, beautiful and fascinating in people and places around me.

am - What inspires your work?

LK - I love to run away to my magical world of pictures. I love to find and shoot the “something” in the eyes, the special moments you can feel but can not describe with words. I love to direct the stories based on my dreams or things which happened or are happening to me. People can see in my work something very familiar to everyone. Because I am just like any other person and I can share my feelings in pictures in a way that people understand and can get connected to them easily. My works are inspired by love, strong emotions and the most tender moments in our relationships.

am - Who are your favourite photographers / artists?

LK - I really love the work of various photographers; very classic style - like Avedon or Newton for instance. I admire the work of Michael Walker - American portrait photographer. But still in big love with contemporary artist like Xixi Xue, Synchrodogs, etc. I like the diversity in life and giving it to the photography too.

am - How would you describe your photographs in 3 words?

LK - Honest, real & simple.

am - What are 5 things you could absolutely not live without?

LK - There is nothing more important than be loved, feel safe, have a friend, stay in touch with people, and the patience. Without my patience I can’t even imagine what could happen.

am - If you could travel and stay in a place for one year, where would you choose to go?

LK - It would be a place where the sun is shinning most of the year, whatever place it would be.

am - Favourite songs / bands at the moment?

LK - I listen grunge and electronic dance music, I have no preferred bands at all, I like lots of great music and choosing one is not possible. At the moment I listen Black Hole Sun from Soundgarden.

am - What’s your favourite movie?

LK - Pulp fiction ;)

am - Thank you very much for your time and your contribution to analog magazine.
