Marlin is a young German photographer who captures her youth and daily adventures in a very expressive and sensitive way. Revealing a wonderful aesthetics and a superb sense of composition, Marlin documents her life through images immortalizing those emotionally charged moments that we all want to remember later in our lives.
Following we want to present an interview we had with Marlin:
am - First of all thank you very much for your contribution to our project. Can you please introduce yourself for us?
MS - Thank you for letting me being part of your project, I’m honoured.
I’m 19 years old and finished school this summer. Now I live in Göttingen, a small town in the middle of Germany. I’ll take now a gap year to work as a volunteer in environmental projects.
am - How did you start in photography?
MS - About the age of 12 I started to express my thoughts and feelings through art. Since then I have been trying out different types of art: painting, dancing, sculpting, photographing, etc. In 2012 I photographed for the first time with an analog camera that I found in our attic. I fell in love with the process and the result of analog photography. It reflects how I see and feel something. In the last years I photographed with a lot of different cameras to try them out and to learn. I also read a lot about their settings.
am - What inspires your work?
MS - Mainly my feelings. And the things happening around me. I want to capture my youth.
am - Who are your favourite photographers / artists?
MS - Photographers: Emmanuel Rosario, Maéva Lecoq, Arnaud Ele, Olivia Bee, Randy P. Martin, Chloé Coislier, Inès Le Goff, Luca Milan Joel Mato, Sophie Charlotte, Acoat. Other artists: Björk, M.I.A., Alexander Ebert, Claude Monet, Frida Kahlo, Niki de Saint Phalle, Shorpi.
