Saleem is an American photographer living in Philadelphia who studied journalism and recently completed a MFA in photography. His work has evolved from a journalistic approach to focusing more on his own life and the environments and issues that he wants to share. On his own words: “I see this work as a example of both my roots as a documentarian and an artist.”
Regarding this series, Saleem states: “These photographs were made in East Philadelphia, a place that does not actually exist. It is a combination of neighborhoods and communities that I explore on a daily basis. It is home to a diverse mix of cultures, where industrial landscapes meet street art and normal oddities. This is my new home, and a record of what I experience.”
This series has been photographed entirely on analog with a Plaubel Makina 6x7.
